Senate to Determine Natasha’s Resumption October 7

The Senate is scheduled to make a final determination regarding the official resumption of legislative duties for the suspended lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on October 7, 2025.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, was suspended on March 6, 2025, for six months over alleged violations of Senate rules.

Her suspension followed a bitter dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she accused of sexual harassment, a claim Akpabio strongly denied.

Though her office was unsealed on Tuesday by the Sergeant-at-Arms, it remains unclear whether the lawmaker has been fully reinstated to legislative functions.

Speaking on Channels TV on Wednesday, Kenny Okolugbo, Consultant on Communication and Strategy to the Office of the Senate President, confirmed that the decision would rest with lawmakers when they reconvene.

“Every other decision will be taken by the senators when they resume on the 7th of October,” Okolugbo said.

He, however, praised the Senate leadership for allowing Akpoti-Uduaghan access to her office, describing it as a recognition of her rights.

“She has gained access into her office, she has every right to go to her office since her six-month suspension has elapsed. Even though the case is still at the Court of Appeal, the leadership of the Senate took a wise decision,” he stated.
