Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory, has opened up about a fiery phone call with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike that turned into an all-out shouting match.
Kingibe, while speaking on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme on Friday, said she repeatedly called Wike over an urgent matter, but he ignored the calls.
The lawmaker stated that when Wike eventually answered the call, both parties raised their voices during the exchange before ending the conversation.
She added that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, later intervened by initiating a three-way call, which helped to resolve the issue.
She said, “I have Wike’s number, and he has mine number too. I know I have the right number. I have called him before. He didn’t answer, and I kept calling and calling till he picked up the phone.
“And then he proceeded to yell at me. We yelled at each other for a few minutes, and we put the phone down. Then the Senate president now intervened and did a three-way call, and we resolved the issue, because for me, that issue was urgent, and that’s why I called him. And I was determined that he was going to pick it up.
“I said, are you in your office? Let me come and see you. He said, no, no, no, don’t come yet here. That was the conversation. He sounded as if I was going to harm him.”
