Simon Ekpa: ‘It’s A Major Victory’ – FG 

The federal government has applauded the conviction of Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa, on terrorism charges by a Finnish court.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this on 𝕏 formerly Twitter on Monday.

He stated that the development is a major victory for the people of Nigeria and the collective fight against terror.

“We welcome the news of Simon Ekpa’s conviction by a Finland Court for terrorism-related crimes, and his sentencing to six years in prison.

“A major victory for the Nigerian people in the collective fight against terror,” Idris wrote on his official handle on X.

Ekpa was sentenced to six years in prison by the Päijät-Häme District Court in Finland on Monday.

Ekpa was found guilty of participating in the activities of a terrorist group, inciting the public to commit crimes for terrorist purposes, engaging in aggravated tax fraud, and violating the Lawyers Act.

The judges found that he supplied these groups with weapons, explosives, and ammunition, and encouraged followers on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) to commit crimes in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has warned against attempts to link Simon Ekpa, a Finland-based Nigerian, to its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

IPOB noted that Ekpa had on previous occasions distanced himself from its activities and did not identify with them.

IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said recent reports linking Ekpa to its leadership were misleading and inaccurate.
