The Governors of the six South-West states will hold an emergency meeting in Ibadan. The primary focus of the convergence is to address the escalating security challenges and other urgent regional matters.
The unscheduled session, holding behind closed doors at the Governor’s Office, Agodi, is being hosted by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
All governors from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states are expected at the meeting, which insiders say was called at short notice due to heightened security alerts across parts of the region.
Though official details are still emerging, sources disclosed that the agenda will cover the rising wave of insecurity, acceleration of key infrastructure projects and renewed commitments to regional cooperation under the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN).
The governors are also billed to review ongoing joint security operations, including the activities of the Amotekun Corps, with considerations for strengthening its capacity amid evolving threats.
