Strike: ADC Urges Electorates To Reject APC In Oyo Over Worker’s Plight
The Campaign Organisation of gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State , Senator Olufemi Lanlehin has urged the people of the state to reject in its entirety anything that has to do with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state over the party’s anti-workers and anti-poeple policy.
In a statement signed by the Director of Public Communication, New Media and Tertiary Institution for Handshake Campaign Organisation, Engineer Akeem stated that the ADC is aware that the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Oyo State Chapter is having meeting later today at its secretariat to commence strike tomorrow, a day to presidential election.
According to him, “it is disheartening, disgusting and worrisome that within eight years reign of APC in the state, many civil servants and retirees have been suffering from various degrees of ailment such as strokes and blindness and while some have died untimely death due to failure of Ajimobi led administration to pay salaries as at when due.
“It is laughable that the Governor Ajimobi is still owing state tertiary institutions 18 months salaries, he said he still wants to establish another tertiary institution in Iseyin.
“One will be wondering the rationale behind this catastrophe policies of this government. Health, Education and other sectors are in comatose, bad roads within the metropolis, still the Governor still going ahead to contest for Senatorial election after eight years of monumental failure as Governor.
“We want to appeal to the workers and people of the state to reject next level of poverty, suffering, unchallant and I don’t care attitude of this present administration by also striking out the APC with their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).
“Oyo APC and both its gubernatorial and Oyo South Senatorial candidates, Bayo Adelabu and Governor Ajimobi have clearly shows the people of the state that the people would remain in abject poverty if they (APC) is allow to come back in 2019 by openly supervise the distribution of ‘Garri and Kulikuli’ to the populace.
“To make Oyo State a better place for all, i want to implore the good people of the state to vote for the governorship candidate of our party, ADC, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin who has promised to pay salaries as at when due, make housing loan available as well as soft loans and grants accessible to traders, artisans, farmers as well as small scale entrepreneurs”.
Apart from making these loans and grants available to these sector of economy, Lanlehin promised to also abolish any levy in both primary and secondary schools in the state because it is these set of people that enrol their wards in public schools.
Lanlehin also promised to create employment opportunities for youths as well create enabling environment for small cottage industry to thrive.
“We would not make life difficult for you imposing various kinds of levies on you in the market, parks and other public places. We promise to make life more meaningful irrespective of your status.
“Once you vote for us and we form the next government in the state, we will be making these grants and loans accessible to you good people of Oyo state”.
Lanlehin, therefore charged voters in state to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) ready for the coming general elections; urging them not to sell it to anybody because that is their power to make wise choice of who govern them and make positive impact on their lives rather than next level of poverty and suffering.
“We are urging the people of the state to come out enmass this Saturday to cast their votes for Sentor Monsurat Sunmonu in Oyo Central, Senator Olusoji Akanbi in Oyo South and Barrister Bayo Lawal in Oyo North and come next week Saturday for our party gubernatorial candidate, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin”, Olatunji concluded
