The Super Eagles of Nigeria will miss out on the 2026 World Cup, following the release of the official play-off qualifier list by the world football governing body.
According to the list released by FIFA, the Democratic Republic of Congo’s place in the intercontinental play-off tournament has been confirmed.
This development effectively puts to an end any hope the Super Eagles and Nigerians might have had about participating in the global football tournament.
It would be recalled that Naija News had exclusively reported that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) lost its petition against the Fédération Congolaise de Football Association’s alleged player ineligibility, ending the Super Eagles’ hopes of returning to the race for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup through the intercontinental play-off.
The world football governing body FIFA said to have reached its final decision on Monday, 17 February, and has formally communicated the verdict to all federations involved in the dispute.
