Supreme Court Blocks Trump’s Sweeping Global Trade Tariffs

The US Supreme Court has ruled against the worldwide tariffs put in place by President Donald Trump.
The highest court in the United States of America handed down the ruling on the tariffs on Friday in a 6-3 split decision.
The court held that Trump exceeded his authority in imposing sweeping tariffs through a law reserved for a national emergency.
It said the International Emergency Economic Powers Act “does not authorise the President to impose tariffs”.
The three liberal justices: Ketanji Brown Jackson, Elena Kagan, and Sonia Sotomayor, joined by three conservative justices: Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, and John Roberts, voted to strike down the tariffs.
