COVID-19: Nigeria Records 1,398 New Cases, 9 Deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday January 13, 2021 announced one thousand, three hundred and ninety-eight (1,398) confirmed new cases of coronavirus codenamed COVID-19 in the country.

Nine (9) people were reported dead on Wednesday.

The total confirmed cases now stand at 103,999.

“Our discharges today include 317 community recoveries in Lagos State, 241 in Kwara State and 134 in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines,” NCDC tweeted.

The Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 in its weekly briefing a few weeks ago had warned Nigerians that if the cases continue to rise the country may consider a second lockdown as a measure to curb the spread.

The Presidential Taskforce had earlier this month also warned worship centres to be weary of annual christmas carol to curb the spread. It also issued stern warnings to Nigerians abroad who intend to come home for christmas to away or risk being locked down in case there’s a rise in coronavirus in the country.

As at Wednesday January 13, 2021 there are 20,062 active cases in Nigeria.
