Thousands of youths from the 19 Northern states gathered at the National Assembly in Abuja for a peaceful rally in support of Senator Barau Jibrin, APC-Kano North, the Deputy President of the Senate.
The rally aimed to express solidarity amid criticism surrounding the Senate’s handling of the Tax Reform Bills.
Led by former NANS President Comrade Tijjani Kabiru Mohammed, the youths praised Barau as the “Sardauna of our era” and displayed banners with messages like “Senator Barau: The pro-masses lawmaker” and “Stop attacking Senator Barau.”
The rally follows Senator Barau’s advocacy for allowing experts, including Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Tax Reform, to educate senators and the public on the proposed tax reforms during plenary.
