Tension has risen in the Ojo area of Ibadan after a clash broke out between Yoruba and Hausa residents in the early hours of Wednesday.
It was learnt that the clash was as a result of alleged killing of a Yoruba tricycle mechanic, said to have been stabbed to death during an overnight altercation involving suspected Hausa scrap collectors.
It was gathered that some youths took to the street in the area to protest the alleged killing of the tricycle mechanic during which suspected scrap collectors were reportedly attacked.
Following the clash and the resistance by the scrap collectors, some of the residents in the area were said to have deserted their homes for fear of possible reprisals.
Security operatives have been deployed to the area to maintain law and order as well as prevent further breakdown of law and order in the area and its adjourning communities.
The police authorities were yet to comment on the incident.
