The third cohort of the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP) concluded with its National Forum and Award Ceremony in Lagos. The event saw three Nigerian startups recognized as national competition winners.
The winners were awarded a total of $32,500 for their innovative work in clean technology and their role in driving Nigeria’s transition toward a net-zero, sustainable future.
Championed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the initiative aims to help entrepreneurs create practical, innovative solutions for tackling climate and environmental challenges.
At the event held in Lagos last Friday, Allgreen Ivy Limited clinched the national winner’s position, taking home $10,000, while One Grid Energies emerged first runner-up with $7,500. Rekool Access Technology secured the second runner-up position, earning $5,000.
Both Allgreen Ivy Limited and One Grid Energies won special prizes for the Best Female-led Startup and the Best Climate Mitigation Startup, respectively.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Head of Startup Support at CcHub Africa, Akinwande Akinsulire, explained that the programme was implemented in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), and Co-creation Hub (CcHub) Africa.
