The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asserted that former President Goodluck Jonathan would be unable to defeat President Bola Tinubu should he choose to contest the 2027 election.
The party contended that Nigeria has progressed beyond the politics of sentiment, nostalgia, and symbolism, which characterize Jonathan’s electoral appeal.
The Lagos APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, made the declaration in a statement released on Friday, amid speculation that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is persuading Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidency on its platform.
A Human rights lawyer, Festus Ogun, has filed a lawsuit against Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Ogun alleges that the Governor violated his fundamental rights by blocking him on his verified 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) account.
In the suit marked FHC/L/CS/1739/25, which was shared by Ogun on Friday via his Facebook page, he said the governor’s decision to block him since 2021 was triggered by his “constructive criticisms” and “demand for accountability” over the October 2020 #EndSARS killings.
“In 2021, I noticed that the Governor blocked me on his official X handle @jidesanwoolu owing to my constructive criticisms of his policies and demand for accountability in respect of the October 2020 #EndSARS Massacre,” Ogun wrote.
The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has refuted claims that he is aiming for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice-presidential slot in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television, Mohammed insisted that he is not withdrawing from the presidential race because of his interest in the vice presidency.
Addressing the party’s zoning decision, he stated that he is willing to give his maximum support to whoever gets the slot.

Lagos NLC Chairperson, Funmi Sesi, said the current ₦85,000 minimum wage in the state no longer meets the economic realities faced by workers, particularly in terms of accommodation, transport, feeding, and utilities.

Asked on the possibility of President Bola Tinubu extending the emergency rule after September 18, George said, “Never, never! It will be a case of yanga dey sleep, wahala go wake am. The people will not accept because you are shortchanging them. They had an election and they had somebody elected. That young Administrator should just leave and go home. We are pleading because there would be a day after governance. How will you want to be remembered? This thing is not personal.”
