The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi‘s, recent pledge to serve only one term if elected president in 2027 as “unnecessary and unconstitutional.” The PDP’s criticism comes in response to Obi’s statement.
PDP Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor, speaking with Vanguard in Abuja on Tuesday, said Obi’s statement could undermine the constitutional framework that allows a president to serve a maximum of two terms.
Osadolor said, “I don’t believe such statements have a place in a democracy, and it’s truly unfortunate. The Constitution explicitly states that one is eligible for an eight-year tenure.
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised concerns regarding Governor Ademola Adeleke‘s absence, alleging that he has abandoned his duties.
The APC, in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, alleged that Governor Adeleke sneaked out of the Government House without disclosing his destination.
The party also alleged that the Governor did not properly hand over to his deputy, thereby creating a governance vacuum in the state.
