The U.S. House Committees on Appropriations and Foreign Affairs have submitted a report outlining their conclusions and suggestions regarding the reported targeting of Christians in Nigeria.

The US Congressman Riley Moore confirmed the development on his 𝕏 account.

Trump had mandated Moore and Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole to lead a comprehensive investigation into the alleged persecution of Christian communities by terrorists and the security challenges plaguing Nigeria.

President Bola Tinubu on Monday evening hosted state governors at a Ramadan Iftar dinner at the State House in Aso Rock, Abuja.

The gathering marks the third consecutive year of the President’s annual Ramadan tradition of hosting political leaders and senior government officials to break the fast during the holy month.

The event brought together governors, deputy governors, and top government functionaries.

  1.  El-Rufai Drags ICPC, IGP, Attorney-General to Court, Demands ₦1b

The former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has filed a ₦1 billion fundamental rights enforcement lawsuit against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), alleging that the agency unlawfully raided his Abuja home.

El-Rufai, in a suit filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, also listed the Chief Magistrate, Magistrate’s Court of the FCT, Abuja Magisterial District; Inspector-General of Police, and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) as 2nd to 4th respondents respectively.

According to the suit filed through his lawyers, led by Oluwole Iyamu, El-Rufai prayed the court to declare that the search warrant issued on February 4 by the Chief Magistrate, Magistrate’s Court of the FCT (2nd respondent), authorising the search and seizure at his residence as invalid, null and void.

  1.  FCT Elections: Obidient Movement Rejects AMAC Chairmanship Results

​​​​The Obidient Movement has refused to accept the outcome of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election conducted on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the  Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The group condemned the results, calling them a serious undermining of democratic values.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, seriously alleged that the election was characterised by voter suppression, intimidation, and violence.

Recall the movement had thrown its support behind the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Dr. Moses Paul, popularly known as Dr. Mo.

  1.  Mamman’s Lawyer Unable to Present Witness in ₦33.8bn Fraud Case

The trial of the former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, sitting in Maitama, Abuja, could not continue on Monday, February 23, 2026, due to the inability of the defence team to produce its witness in court.

At  Monday’s proceedings, the defence counsel, Femi Atteh, SAN informed the court that he was unable to subpoena its witness because the witness was unavailable in the office. He therefore sought additional time to enable him to subpoena the witness.

Justice Omotosho adjourned the matter till February 26, 2026 for the defendant to open his defence.

  1.  Catholic Bishops’ Conference Of Nigeria Calls on National Assembly to Mandate Real-Time Result Transmission

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria has urged the National Assembly to promptly reconsider its stance on electoral reforms, with a specific focus on making the real-time transmission of election results compulsory.

The Archbishop of Owerri and outgoing CBCN President, Lucius Ugorji, made the call on Sunday at the opening of the 2026 first plenary meeting of the conference at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria in Abuja.

Speaking on the theme, “The Common Good and Leadership in Nigeria,” Ugorji expressed concern over what he described as a steady decline in voter turnout in the country.

  1. 2027 Election: Telcos Say Real-Time Results Transmission Is Possible 

Top telecom companies have confirmed that Nigeria’s phone networks are strong enough to send election results electronically in real time.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) also said 93 percent of polling units across the country have mobile network coverage, following a joint technical assessment with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and major telecom operators.

Major telecom operators, who spoke with The PUNCH, said that Nigeria’s telecommunications network was capable of supporting the real-time electronic transmission of election results, but the process remains largely paper-based.

Nigerian singer Portable has declined a N50 million proposal to participate in a boxing bout with prominent content streamer Cater Efe.

Music executive Soso Soberekon made the N50 million offer during a recent livestream with Cater Efe, who accepted it without hesitation and even urged him to fix the date and venue for the match.

However, reacting in a video broadcast, Portable blatantly rejected the N50 million offer and demanded that a luxury car worth N300 million be added to the prize before he could agree to participate.

Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage name Tems, has overtaken South African artist Tyla to claim the title of the most-listened-to African artist on Spotify, topping the chart for highest monthly listeners on the platform.

The Love Me Jeje crooner recently hit 38.3 million listeners on the platform, surpassing Tyla with 38.2 million listeners.

Tems’ leap was due to new releases and features including ‘What You Need’ (Colour version), and ‘Bounce Road Blues’ with J.Cole and Future as well as her collaborative hit with Dave, ‘Raindance,’ which is still making waves.

Nigerian entrepreneur and socialite Emeka Okonkwo, better known as E-Money, has publicly condemned streamer Carter Efe after he wrecked a brand new car that was presented to him as a gift — an incident that occurred during a stunt performed alongside fellow streamer Peller.

Cater Efe and Peller shocked viewers after they violently damaged each other’s cars during a livestream on Saturday.

E-Money, who reportedly gifted Cater Efe his car, expressed disappointment with the stunt when the streamer paid him a courtesy visit alongside Peller on Sunday.
