Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Wednesday met privately with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde at the Governor’s Office in the Secretariat, Ibadan.

The meeting, officially described as a courtesy visit, comes amid mounting speculation over political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections and a former governor of Kano State, was accompanied by the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed; National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson; and Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Buba Galadima, alongside other senior officials.

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, on Wednesday confronted Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja over allegations involving a detained woman.

Human rights activist and ex-presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore had a face-off with Minister of Works Dave Umahi at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, in connection with allegations surrounding a woman being held in detention.

Sowore posted a video of the encounter on his X account, on Wednesday saying the incident occurred inside a conference hall at the police command.

  1. National Convention: APC Assigns Positions to Akpabio, Fubara, Ribadu, Uzodimma, Others

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has given the green light to the formation of Sub-Committees ahead of the 2026 National Convention, a move aimed at guaranteeing that the event is conducted in a fair and trustworthy manner.

This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka.

According to the ruling party, the Committees are mandated to coordinate critical operational, administrative, electoral, logistics, security and programme activities necessary for the seamless conduct of the Convention.

  1. Court Accepts Additional Exhibits in N90.4m Fraud Trial Against Ex-NHIS Head, Professor Yusuf

Justice Chinyere E. Nwecheonwu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Kuchiako, Kuje, Abuja, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, admitted in evidence more documents tendered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, against former National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, boss, Professor Usman Yusuf.

The documents were brought before the court by the Second Prosecution Witness, PW2, James Balami, Director of Procurement, NHIS, at the January 5, 2026, proceedings on the matter.

Ruling on the admissibility of the documents, on Wednesday,   February 25, 2026, following their presentation and oral application to tender them in evidence by prosecution counsel, Francis Usani, Justice Nwecheonwu, held that the admission of the document was in accordance with the law, noting also that the documents did not face any objection by the defence counsel, O.I. Habeeb, SAN.

  1. Tinubu Decorates Tunji Disu As IGP

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally pinned the rank of Acting Inspector-General of Police on Tunji Disu at the State House in Abuja this Wednesday.

The ceremony, held at about 4 p.m. in the President’s office, was attended by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; and the immediate past IGP, Kayode Egbetokun.

Tinubu personally pinned the new insignia on Disu’s uniform and commended Egbetokun for what he described as dedicated service to the nation.

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday called on Acting Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu to take decisive steps toward improving security and restoring peace throughout the nation.

Tinubu gave the charge at the swearing-in and decoration of Disu at the State House, Abuja.

“For you to assume this responsibility, I know your record,” the president said.

  1. Federal High Court Adjourns El-Rufai’s Arraignment Until April 23

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday postponed the arraignment of ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai after his legal team failed to present him before the court.

El-Rufai is facing a three-count charge brought by the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged illegal wiretapping of the phone of the former National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu.

At the proceedings, El-Rufai’s lawyer, Oluwole Iyamu, informed the court that the former governor was in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and could not appear for arraignment.

  1. Sanwo-Olu Hails Tunji Disu’s Appointment As Acting IGP

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Mr. Olatunji Disu on his appointment as the acting Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Tinubu.

He said the elevation of Disu to the position of acting Inspector General of Police is well deserved considering his high level professionalism, competence and contribution to the Nigerian Police for over three decades.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, described Disu’s appointment as an honour to Lagos State. 

  1. Portable Confirms ₦40m Agreement for Showdown with Carter Efe

Nigerian singer Portable has revealed that he was paid ₦40 million to take on well-known streamer Carter Efe in a boxing match.

In an Instagram post, the singer revealed that the organisers had paid the amount as a signing fee, expressing his belief that he will come out on top in the highly anticipated bout.

He further revealed that businessman E-Money and music producer Soso Soberekon have each pledged ₦50 million and additional rewards if he wins the fight.

Nigerian comic actor Bamidele Tope Saint, widely known by his stage name Okemesi, has passed away just hours after falling into a coma.

Following complications from drugs administered to him at the hospital, Okemesi died on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

Announcing his death in a video shared on Instagram, actor Tony Montana Jeff stated that his body has been deposited in the mortuary.
