The military officer was praised for maintaining his composure and position during a contentious argument with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, over a contested land plot in Abuja on Tuesday.
In a statement made available to Defence Correspondents in Abuja in response to the viral incident, General Oluyede applauded the officer’s calmness and professionalism despite the minister’s harsh words.
The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has dismissed the prospect of disciplinary measures against Lieutenant Ahmad Yerima. This decision follows a public, heated verbal dispute between the naval officer and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, which occurred during an official enforcement tour of a controversial land site in Abuja.
Matawalle gave the assurance in an interview with DCL Hausa, while reacting to viral footage of the encounter, which has sparked a national debate over civil–military relations and the limits of political authority.
The minister said the face-off was unnecessary and should have been routed through proper administrative channels rather than a public confrontation.

At the resumed hearing on Wednesday, the sixth prosecution witness, Mashelia Arhyel Bata, a compliance officer with Zenith Bank, continued his evidence-in-chief, narrating a series of large and repeated cash withdrawals made by Abdulsalami Hudu and others from the Kogi State Government accounts between 2016 and 2018.

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has rejected allegations suggesting his principal is attempting to destabilize the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of a potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television, Olayinka insisted that Wike’s fight with PDP is to uphold Justice.

Two employees of the National Assembly, Mustapha Mohammed and Tijjani Adam Goni, have been convicted for a ₦4.8 million employment scam. The conviction was secured by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
According to a statement by ICPC spokesperson, Demola Bakare, the conviction followed a petition (ICPC/P/NC/1056/2022) lodged by victims who accused the duo of collecting money under false pretences of securing jobs.
It was learnt that the convicts, in collaboration with another suspect still at large, allegedly defrauded two victims, Saifudeen Yakub and Aminu Abubakar, by promising them employment at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
