The indefinite suspension of former governor and current senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, for alleged anti-party activities, was reaffirmed on Thursday by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 4, Sabo, Sagamu. The party insisted that the suspension remains fully enforced.
The party also argued that the National Working Committee (NWC) lacks the authority to overturn the suspension, which was imposed by the ward executives in accordance with the party’s constitution.
The Secretary of Ward 4, Aduroja Oluwole, supported by the ward chairman, Adebayo Ismail, and other party members, stated this at a press briefing held at the ward secretariat in Sabo, Sagamu, reacting to the NWC’s stance that Daniel remains a bona fide member of the party.
Following the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State, President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to move to the state.
Tinubu made this known in a statement through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The statement said Matawalled was asked to remain in Kebbi state to monitor security efforts to secure the release of the abducted students.

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has been handed a life sentence by the Federal High Court in Abuja. The court found him guilty on all seven terrorism charges that the Federal Government had filed against him.
Justice James Omotosho delivered the judgment on Thursday, four years after Kanu’s controversial arrest in Kenya and subsequent extradition to Nigeria.
Kanu, who had repeatedly challenged the proceedings, was absent when the verdict was handed down, having earlier insisted that the court lacked the authority to conclude the matter.
In a ruling delivered in Abuja, the Federal High Court has convicted Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on count one of the terrorism charges brought against him by the Federal Government.
The court said it was satisfied that Kanu made series of broadcasts to incite violence and killings, in furtherance of his separatist agitation for Biafra.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has disowned an organisation operating under the name Zuldal Microfinance Bank Limited, warning Nigerians that the entity is neither licensed nor authorised to conduct any form of banking or microfinance business in the country.
In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Ali Hakama Sidi Ali, the apex bank said its attention had been drawn to the activities of the organisation, which reportedly operates branches in Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano while claiming to be licensed by the CBN.
According to the statement, “The said Zuldal Microfinance Bank Limited is not a licensed Microfinance Bank and has no authorisation from the Central Bank of Nigeria to operate or carry out any form of banking or microfinance business in Nigeria.”
President Donald Trump signed a bill on Wednesday requiring his administration to disclose files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, yielding to internal party pressure after an initial refusal.
Trump could have chosen to release many of the files on his own months ago.
“Democrats have used the ‘Epstein’ issue, which affects them far more than the Republican Party, in order to try and distract from our AMAZING Victories,” Trump said in a social media post as he announced he had signed the bill.
