President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to depart for the United States on Tuesday for high-level diplomatic engagements with the US government, according to information obtained by SaharaReporters.
Tinubu’s trip is in the midst of a fraught dispute over allegations of mass killings of Christians in Nigeria and threats of military action from Washington.
Presidential sources told SaharaReporters on Sunday that Tinubu will be in the US on Tuesday for “top-level” talks. The sources added that US President Donald Trump has delegated his vice, James David Vance, to receive or meet with Tinubu during the visit, subject to any last-minute changes.
U.S. President Donald Trump has proposed the possibility of deploying troops or conducting air strikes in Nigeria. His stated aim was to intervene in what he termed “the killing of record numbers of Christians.”
Trump had earlier posted on Truth Social, warning that the United States would come into Nigeria Guns-A-Blazing if it fails to act fast concerning the killing of Christians in the country.
Speaking further on the situation, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, November 2, that he had instructed the Department of Defense to “prepare for possible action” in Nigeria amid reports of violence against Christians.
The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has defended his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC). He stated that this move was driven by the best interests of the state’s development.
Diri is set to formally join the ruling party alongside members of the state executive council, lawmakers, two serving senators, and other political leaders in Yenagoa, the state capital, on Monday (today).

The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered a clandestine laboratory where Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis, is being produced in a residential building located at Ajao estate, Isolo, Lagos, with large quantities of freshly cooked Colos and various precursor chemicals for drug production recovered, and the 30-year-old lab owner, Stephen Kelechi Imoh, arrested.
The discovery followed months of intelligence gathering on possible Colos laboratories in Lagos after NDLEA officers intercepted consignments of freshly produced Colos in March and May 2025 in the state, a development that suggested that the dangerous psychoactive substance, which was hitherto imported into the country, was now locally produced.
The effort paid off on Thursday, 30th October 2025, when NDLEA officers raided the residential apartment in Ajao estate, Isolo, Lagos, which Kelechi converted to a laboratory for cooking Colos, a strain of cannabis produced with the psychoactive plant and various chemicals. Recovered from the apartment include: freshly cooked Colos weighing 16.2 kilograms; ADB-CHMNACA Cannabinol -1.7kg; Potassium Carbonate -4.5kg, and Dibromobutane – 91 litres.
The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sued Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas. The lawsuit alleges their failure to investigate claims that national assembly members pay between ₦1 million and ₦3 million to sponsor bills, motions, and petitions.
In the suit numbered FHC/L/CS/2214/2025 filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja, SERAP is asking the court to issue an order of mandamus compelling Akpabio and Abbas — sued on behalf of all National Assembly members, to refer the bribery allegations to anti-corruption agencies for investigation and prosecution.
The lawsuit followed viral claims made by Ibrahim Auyo, a member of the House of Representatives representing Jigawa State (APC), who alleged that lawmakers pay millions to have their bills or motions considered.
