The All Progressives Congress (APC), the current ruling party, has announced that discussions are at an advanced stage with at least four incumbent governors from both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), who are considering defecting to the APC before the close of 2025.
APC’s National Vice Chairman (South-East), Dr Ijeoma Arodiogbu, disclosed this in an interview with The PUNCH Newspaper.
He listed the governors of Plateau, Taraba, Rivers, and Abia (LP) as those being courted by the party, stressing that their defection was “highly possible” in the coming weeks.
The Naira saw an appreciation in the parallel market yesterday, reaching N1,487 per dollar, an increase from N1,491 per dollar recorded on Monday.

These messages advertise fake e-auction and “quick purchase” opportunities, falsely claiming affiliation with the service. The NCS advises the public to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to these scams.
In a statement on its official X handle on Tuesday, the service said it had become aware of a WhatsApp number,’ 234 814 732 3739′, impersonating its officers and misleading unsuspecting citizens with false claims of representing the NCS.

The Edo State Government has given a one-week deadline to former Deputy Governor Engr. Godwin Omobayo to return all government property and assets that remain in his possession.
Omobayo was sworn in on 8 April 2024 by Chief Judge Daniel Okungbowa following his nomination by the then Governor Godwin Obaseki, who had a fallout with his deputy, Comrade Phillip Shaibu.
Shaibu had earlier been impeached by the state House of Assembly but was later reinstated by the court, making Omobayo’s tenure illegal.
