Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has voiced concerns about a calculated effort to destabilize Kebbi State. He cited the influx of political thugs, foreign mercenaries, and illegal arms as key elements of this plot.
In a petition dated September 10, 2025, and addressed to the National Security Adviser, Inspector General of Police, Director-General of the Department of State Services, and the Comptroller-Generals of Immigration and Civil Defence, Malami alleged that powerful political actors were behind the rising security threats in the state.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to mobilize its members against the National Assembly. This action will be taken if Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) is prevented from resuming her legislative duties after completing her suspension.
NLC President, Joe Ajaero, in a statement on Thursday, described the Senate’s action as a “brazen assault on democracy” and warned that labour would not fold its arms.
He said, “We warn the leadership of the National Assembly and their enablers: the Nigerian people, united across ethnic and religious lines, will not stand idly by while you cannibalise our democracy.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, has explained why criminals are one step ahead of law enforcement agencies.
Egbetokun spoke on Thursday at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, when he met with commanders of all border patrol units nationwide.
He said: “Let me say this to you: when you mount a checkpoint, when you block a smuggling route, when you rescue a victim, you are not just doing your job, you are shaping the future of Nigeria.
The Kano State Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 150 blocks and three sacks of cannabis sativa, totaling 112 kilograms.

This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Kano by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari.
Nigeria’s upstream oil sector is experiencing a significant recovery, with crude oil losses due to theft and metering problems now at their lowest in almost 16 years.
In July 2025, daily losses stood at 9,600 barrels per day (bpd), the lowest figure since 2009 when losses dropped to an all-time low of 8,500 bpd.
This is based on the trends of crude oil losses year-to-date as of July 2025, as released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

In the suit, the ADC, Mark, and Aregbesola were listed as the first, second, and third defendants, while INEC and a former national chairman of the party, Ralph Nwosu, were joined as the fourth and fifth defendants.
