According to a statement on Thursday by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mohammad Doka, the former AGF, who now leads the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi, accused some politicians of collaborating with mercenaries from the Niger Republic and arming them through illegal channels.

  1. Labour Union Vows Showdown Over Natasha’s Suspension

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to mobilize its members against the National Assembly. This action will be taken if Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) is prevented from resuming her legislative duties after completing her suspension.

NLC President, Joe Ajaero, in a statement on Thursday, described the Senate’s action as a “brazen assault on democracy” and warned that labour would not fold its arms.

He said, “We warn the leadership of the National Assembly and their enablers: the Nigerian people, united across ethnic and religious lines, will not stand idly by while you cannibalise our democracy.

  1. IGP Reveals Reasons Why Criminals Are Ahead Of Security Agencies 

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, has explained why criminals are one step ahead of law enforcement agencies.

Egbetokun spoke on Thursday at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, when he met with commanders of all border patrol units nationwide.

He said: “Let me say this to you: when you mount a checkpoint, when you block a smuggling route, when you rescue a victim, you are not just doing your job, you are shaping the future of Nigeria.

  1. NDLEA Seizes 112kg of Cannabis in Road Accident

The Kano State Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 150 blocks and three sacks of cannabis sativa, totaling 112 kilograms.

It was reported that the interception followed a road accident at Gadar Tamburawa on the Zaria-Kano expressway.

This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Kano by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari.

  1. Nigeria’s Crude Oil Losses Fall  To 16-Year-Low

Nigeria’s upstream oil sector is experiencing a significant recovery, with crude oil losses due to theft and metering problems now at their lowest in almost 16 years.

In July 2025, daily losses stood at 9,600 barrels per day (bpd), the lowest figure since 2009 when losses dropped to an all-time low of 8,500 bpd.

This is based on the trends of crude oil losses year-to-date as of July 2025, as released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced that today, Friday, September 12, 2025 (19th of Rabi’ul Awwal 1447 AH), will be observed as a public holiday in Kano State to commemorate this year’s Maulud Nabiyy.

The holiday is meant for Muslims to commemorate the birth of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, called on residents to celebrate peacefully and uphold the Prophet’s teachings.

Former captain of the Super Eagles, Mikel Obi, believes that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) should be completely dissolved if the national team does not qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The Super Eagles’ chances of reaching the next World Cup are very slim after drawing South Africa in a Group C qualification race for the competition.

The result leaves the country’s senior team third on the log, six points behind Bafana Bafana of South Africa with just two games to go.

  1. Court Convicts Ansaru Commander, Imposes 15-Year Jail Term

A commander of the Ansaru terrorist organization, Mahmud Usman, has been sentenced to fifteen years in prison following his arrest.

Usman was sentenced to jail on Thursday by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

The trial judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, however, ordered the defendant to be remanded in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) pending his trial for thirty-one other charges preferred against him by the service.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday, met in a closed-door meeting with the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in Abuja.

Mr Obi confirmed the meeting in a post on his official X handle, where he described Dr Jonathan as an “elder brother, statesman, and leader.”

He noted that their discussions centred on national concerns and the state of the country.

  1. Court Restrains INEC From Recognising Mark, Aregbesola as ADC Executives

The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an order preventing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing former Senate President, David Mark, and former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as the interim National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively, of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Justice Emeka Nwite granted the interim injunction following a motion ex parte dated September 2, 2025, filed by Nafiu Gombe.

In the suit, the ADC, Mark, and Aregbesola were listed as the first, second, and third defendants, while INEC and a former national chairman of the party, Ralph Nwosu, were joined as the fourth and fifth defendants.
