A boat accident in Zamfara State has tragically claimed the lives of at least 15 villagers who were attempting to escape from bandits.
Channels Television reports that the accident occurred on Friday when villagers fleeing bandit attacks attempted to cross a river at Nasarawar Kifi in Birnin Tudu Ward.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) urges the Federal Government to immediately overturn the new passport fees set by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), denouncing the increase as arbitrary, illegal, and discriminatory toward impoverished Nigerians.
The NIS had last week disclosed that, effective September 1, 2025, passport applications within Nigeria would cost ₦100,000 for the 32-page, five-year validity and ₦200,000 for the 64-page, 10-year validity.

While Uchelue was nabbed at Umudioka, Dunukofia local government area of Anambra with 26.7kg skunk on Thursday, 28th August 2025, Eneh Makuo, Emmanuel Chiemeli; Uwakwe Matthew; Chukwujekwu Ehirim; Ifeanyichukwu Olisa, and Odoh Chukwuma, were arrested with various quantities of opioids and skunk at Nkwelle and Amichi areas of the state.
In his case, Andrew was arrested with a Dane gun on Tuesday 26th August when NDLEA operatives supported by personnel of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Forest Security Service, Mambila Youth Vanguard and Vigilante, stormed his 71.5 hectares of cannabis farm located at Mayodoga forest, Mayosabere ward in Sardauna LGA, Taraba State, where they destroyed 178, 750 kilograms of skunk, a strain of cannabis.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Kayode Opeifa, has publicly apologized to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). This apology comes after an incident where Ladi Bala, an NTA correspondent, was allegedly harassed while reporting on the aftermath of the Abuja–Kaduna train derailment.
