The Presidency’s recent assertion that President Bola Tinubu has no intentions of extending his tenure beyond 2031 has drawn a sharp rebuke from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the remarks as presumptuous and patently undemocratic.
The party said Tinubu’s mandate ends in 2027, and Nigerians will not wish to extend his tenure by a single day.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called for an investigation into the expenditures of Ibok-Ete Ibas, the former Sole Administrator of Rivers State.
The group urged Ibas to explain how he spent over ₦254.37 billion received from the Federation Account between March and August 2025.
Speaking via a Freedom of Information request, the rights group argued that the right of access to official information, such as the spending by the past Rivers State Administrator, would enhance transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.

With her office now unsealed, Akpoti-Uduaghan can access the National Assembly premises, potentially paving the way for her to resume her legislative duties.
