President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday held a meeting with the former Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), at the Aso Villa Rock Villa in Abuja.

It was gathered that Ibas arrived at the Villa at about 5:50 pm clad in brown native attire.

He was accompanied to the meeting by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede.

  1. Nigeria at 65: FG Unveils Theme for Independence Anniversary

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s administration has unveiled “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation” as the official theme for the nation’s 2025 Independence Anniversary.

This was revealed in a statement on Wednesday by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The statement said the theme highlights the importance of unity, collaboration, and patriotism among government institutions, the private sector, civil society groups, and citizens in building a nation defined by lasting peace, prosperity, and progress.

  1. Tinubu Honours Ogoni 4, Plans Oil Production Restart in Ogoniland

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday posthumously awarded the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) to the late Ogoni four: Albert Badey, Edward Kobani, Theophilus Orage, and Samuel Orage.

The President bestowed the honours while receiving the report of the Ogoni Consultations Committee at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He urged the people of Ogoniland to embrace reconciliation and unity after decades of division.

  1. Business Tycoon Olorogun Oscar Ibru Dies

Chairman of the legendary Ibru Organisation, Oscar Ibru, has passed away at the age of 67 after a brief illness. Reports confirm his death this Wednesday afternoon, September 24, 2025.

Oscar Ibru was the eldest son of Michael Ibru, founder of the Ibru Organization. He attended Igbobi College for his secondary education before proceeding to Skidmore College for his first degree and later Atlanta University graduate school of business for his master’s degree.

Ibru returned to the country in 1983 and joined The Guardian as a management trainee and then Emsee Shipping Lines Limited in the position of research and development manager. He rose to the position of General Manager and became managing director of the company in 1992.

  1. EFCC Arrests 49 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Akwa Ibom State

The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Uyo Zonal Directorate, have arrested forty-nine (49) suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation carried out at different locations in Akwa Ibom State.

31( thirty-one) of the suspects were arrested on Monday September 22, 2025, at Ikpa Road, Ekpri Nsukara, Nwaniba, and Shelter Afrik Extension, all in Akwa Ibom State, while the remaining eighteen(18)  were arrested on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Oron, and Calabar-Itu Road.

The arrested suspects include undergraduates, traders, and artisans.

  1. Senate to Determine Natasha’s Resumption October 7

The Senate is scheduled to make a final determination regarding the official resumption of legislative duties for the suspended lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on October 7, 2025.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, was suspended on March 6, 2025, for six months over alleged violations of Senate rules.

Her suspension followed a bitter dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she accused of sexual harassment, a claim Akpabio strongly denied.

Although she did not reveal the circumstances or the exact date of her mother’s passing, Aigbe has often spoken about the profound influence her mother had on her life.

  1. NFF to Host 2025 Annual General Assembly in Ibadan Saturday

The 81st Annual General Assembly of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is scheduled to take place on Saturday in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, will declare the assembly open at the Emeritus Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, opposite the University College Hospital, Orita-Mefa.

Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko; Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade; Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Abdul Ningi; Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu and; former NFF President and former FIFA and CAF Member, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick, are among dignitaries expected at the occasion.

  1. Fubara, Natasha’s Suspensions Are Part Of Tinubu’s Strategy For 2027 – Atiku 

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is leveraging state institutions and resources to harass and intimidate opposition members in the run-up to the 2027 elections.

Atiku categorically stated that the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly, and the suspension of Kogi Central lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, were not only unlawful but also orchestrated by the Tinubu government.

He, however, vowed that such authoritarian tendencies would be resisted to save and protect Nigeria’s democracy.
