Trailer Crushes Three Vehicles As LASTMA Rescues Three
The operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority have confirmed that a fully loaded tanker rammed into six vehicles around Gbagada Bridge inward Ifako along Oshodi-Oworonshoki Expressway, Lagos on Thursday.
LASTMA’s Oduyebo Oluwole, Zebra, Zone 2, disclosed that the accident caused severe congestion for road users.
This was largely for those moving from the Third Mainland Bridge going towards Ifako by Oworonshoki Expressway.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the fully loaded tanker after losing control due to brake failure, rammed into six vehicles: three commercial vehicles, three private cars and one LASTMA bike, while descending Gbagada Bridge inward Ifako on the expressway.
Oluwole confirmed that three of the victims were severely injured.
He said they were rushed to Gbagada General Hospital for medical treatment by a LASTMA Trooper who was also among those injured during the accident.
He confirmed further that while the accident occurred around 6:10pm, operatives from Alonge Police Station at Oworonshoki were equally at the scene of the accident.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Bolaji Oreagba, has called on the association regulating activities of tanker operators to always educate their drivers on the need to observe speed limits whenever they are driving on public roads.
