Troops of 3 Battalion Operation Hadin Kai, have repelled the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) attacks on Gamborun Ngala, in the North-East of Borno State. It was gathered that the terrorists on Hilux trucks and motorcycles attacked the military formation and began shooting sporadically.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack was successfully repelled with support from reinforcement from Battalion headquarters.
The sources said that an unconfirmed number of the terrorists were either killed as troops observed traces where bodies were dragged with blood stains through the withdrawal route of the terrorists during exploitation.
Meanwhile, one civilian truck conveying goods to Maiduguri from Gamboru Ngala was involved in an Improvised Explosive Device(IED) explosion. The IED was suspected to have been laid by terrorists for a Troops reinforcements team during the attack.
The IED damaged the truck and injured the driver and passenger. The injured were evacuated to Gamboru General Hospital for treatment.
