Truck, Tanker Accident Causes Major Traffic in Lagos

An overnight collision involving a tanker and a truck on the Third Mainland Bridge has caused traffic congestion in several surrounding areas.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) made this known in a video and statement it released early on Monday.
Areas affected include Alalpere inward Lagos Island, Oshodi-Apapa Expressway inward Lagos Island, and parts of Ikorodu Road as commuters made to avoid the Third Mainland Bridge.
LASTMA said: “Traffic is moving slowly exiting the Tollgate towards Iyana Oworo due to an accident on the Third Mainland Bridge, near the Unilag waterfront, heading towards the Island.
“A tanker and a truck collided overnight, causing significant disruptions.
“Our personnel and the Nigerian Police Force are on the scene, actively monitoring traffic and ensuring safety.
“Cones have been placed behind the vehicles to prevent further accidents.
“Efforts are underway to evacuate the affected vehicles and restore normal traffic flow.
“We will provide further updates as the situation develops.
“Motorists are advised to exercise caution and plan accordingly.”
