Tunji Disu Is New Rivers State Police Commissioner

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Olatunji Disu, as the new Commissioner of Police for Rivers State Command.
Disu was appointed to ensure robust policing of the state: strengthening its security, tackling violent crimes, and improving policing operations across the State.
Disu’s appointment did not come as a surprise to many as he had always exhibited stringent policing strategies and a State as complex as Rivers is deserving of a strategic mindset such as his.
After the release of the signal on Wednesday, 8 November 2023, Kayode Egebetokun charged the CP to demonstrate his known technical and tactical prowess in the policing of Rivers State.
Before now, Disu was the Principal Staff Officer to the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun; CP Federal Investigation Bureau; the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja; Deputy Commissioner of Police, IRT; and Commander of Rapid Response Squad, Lagos State.
He has also served as DPO in several police formations including Elimbu and Elelenwo in Rivers State. He was the Head of the SARS and Anti-kidnapping Unit, Rivers State. CP Disu was also appointed to lead the Nigeria Police Contingent to the African Union (AU) Peace Keeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan.
CP Disu holds a degree in English Education from Lagos State University (LASU), and two Master’s degrees: one in Public Administration from Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State, and another in Criminology, Security, and Legal Psychology from Lagos State University.
