U.S. Embassy Condemns Suicide Attacks Against IDPs In Dikwa As Death Toll Rises

The U.S Embassy in Nigeria has condemn the suicide attack in Dikwa Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp in Borno State, Nigeria.

In a statement obtained by Lagos Post from the Information Office, Public Affairs Section of the Embassy in Lagos, the Embassy condole with the families of the victims and pledge to support Nigeria in winning the war against terrorism in the country.


The statement read; The U.S. Embassy condemns the reported suicide attacks on internally displaced persons in Dikwa town, Borno state that occurred on February 9.  We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims.  The United States remains committed to assisting internally displaced populations in northeastern Nigeria through humanitarian relief efforts.  We also continue to support the Nigerian government in its fight against terrorism.

Meanwhile, the National Emergency Management Authority said that the death toll in the suicide bomb attack has risen to 58.

The Information Officer of the Agency, Sani Datti told Punch on the telephone earlier today that 58 persons were killed while 78 persons were injured in the attack.
