The Presidency has refuted the story that the United Arab Emirates, UAE, has lifted the visa ban on Nigerians.
The Eagle Online recalls that the story, on Tuesday, followed a document that came into circulation about midday.
The document, on the X handle of the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said the lifting of the visa ban took effect from March 4, 2024.
However, The Eagle Online reports that the story was a hoax from an unapproved source.
It was learnt that as at press time, senior officials of the Governments of Nigeria and UAE were still working out the modalities for the lifting of the ban.
Confirming the development, Onanuga in a tweet on his X handle on Tuesday, said: “UAE has not resumed visa issuance to Nigerians.
“The document in circulation is not authorized either by the Nigerian government or the UAE.”
