
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has refuted claims made by former international Taribo West, who alleged that the NFF did not provide support for Peter Rufai’s burial.
West while speaking at Rufai’s burial expressed disappointment over what he described as the neglect of Nigerian football heroes after their death.
The former Inter Milan defender also recalled similar situations with late football icons such as Stephen Keshi, Rashidi Yekini, and Thompson Oliha, stressing that the treatment of ex-players discouraged him from encouraging his children to serve the country through football.
A top official of the NFF, who spoke with Prompt News on the condition of anonymity reacted to the allegation.

“The NFF provided financial support for the families of Chukwu and Rufai for the burial rites.
“The Rufai family were very grateful because it came in handy as the money approved by Lagos State is yet to be released.”
NFF Executive Member, Ganiyu Majekodunmi, and Director of Communication, Ademola Olajire were present at Rufai’s burial ceremony at the Catholic Church of Visitation, Festac, Lagos on Friday.
