The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday insisted that the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, must leave his position as a condition for peace in the party.
The Governor made this known in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state on Thursday as the caucus of the PDP met in Abuja.
Wike, who spoke at the inauguration of the Campus of the Rivers State University, was reacting to the resignation of the Chairman of the BoT of the party, Walid Jibrin.
He said the resignation of Jibrin was immaterial as the presidential candidate of the party for the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar, had promised him on his emergence that Ayu would step down.
He said the issue for discussion in the PDP now had to do with justice and fairness, adding: “This fight we will fight it to the end.”
The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who was also scheduled to have been at the meeting in Abuja, was with Wike in Ahoada.
