Y2023 HOS Games: Participating Teams Charged To Maintain Spirit Of Sportsmanship 

Participants in the forthcoming 17th edition of the Inter-Agency Football competition, known as the ‘HOS Games’ among Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) including Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State has been implored to exhibit spirit of sportsmanship throughout the competition.

The Vice Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, Mr Richard Ogbe, stated this during his welcome address at the draws being organized by the Committee which was held at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, The Secretariat Alausa-Ikeja.

“The Competition is aimed at engendering and fostering the spirit of sportsmanship in the State Public Service”.

He stated that a lot of activities have been lined up to add glamour and glitz to the competition adding that 74 MDAs and all LG/LCDAs for male categories and 32 for female categories, would participate in the Competition.

He maintained that this year’s HOS Games shall commence on Wednesday, 8th September, 2023 with the play-off category before the full tournament.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman, Technical Committee Mr Olaokun Okunnu, stressed that measures have also been put in place to ensure that only qualified members of staff take part in this year’s ‘HoS Games’, stressing that all prospective players are required to attach their letters of appointment, staff identification card and medical certificate of fitness to their registration forms.

In a statement signed by the Public Affairs Officer, OHoS/ PSO, Debo Adeniji, the committee chairman warned team Managers and Coaches not to field ineligible players, adding that any Agency that contravenes the rule would be banned from the Competition.

He stated that the Competition, which would be held at four venues, namely; Agidingbi Primary School playing ground, Dairy Farm Primary School playing ground, Agege, Isheri – Olowo Ira Mini Stadium and LASUTH Mini Stadium.
