Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will hold a meeting before the party’s National Elective Convention, which is slated for November in Ibadan, Oyo State.
A reliable source within the PDP National Working Committee informed THE PUNCH that the PDP Governors’ Forum will convene in Gusau, Zamfara State, this weekend to deliberate on key issues ahead of the convention.
According to the source, the governors are expected to arrive in Gusau on Friday, with the main meeting slated for Saturday.
The insider revealed that the governors’ discussions would centre on ensuring the smooth conduct of the convention, billed for November 15 and 16.
The source said, “The party leaders, that is, governors, Board of Trustees, National Working Committee, and others, are aware of the importance of the Ibadan Convention. The convention is crucial to the future of the PDP.”
He explained that while most of the governors had agreed to adopt political solutions to lingering disputes, they were also prepared to use the party’s instruments to enforce decisions if necessary.
The source expressed confidence that all factions within the PDP would eventually align to make the Ibadan convention a success.

“I know that all our leaders, particularly the governors, have resolved to adopt political solutions where necessary to ensure that the November 15 and 16 Ibadan Convention holds as scheduled.
They will also not be afraid to apply force through the organs and instruments of the party.
“With all these, our leaders will work together; the Ibadan Convention will hold as planned, and the PDP will bounce back to rescue Nigeria from the clueless All Progressives Congress come 2027,” he declared.
