Premier League club, Chelsea are looking to leverage on a former player to assist in the battle for Victor Osimhen’s signature.
Osimhen remains in demand, with Chelsea leading a line-up of star-studded teams looking to prise the Napoli man away from Naples.
According to a report from the Express, Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly could play a decisive role in their bid to sign Osimhen.
Koulibaly was at Stamford Bridge for just a single before he swapped England for Saudi Arabia.
The 31-year-old had a difficult time at the club after he joined from Italian side Napoli, where he spent eight seasons.
Despite leaving Napoli, Koulibaly remains a respected figure in Naples.
He spent two of his eight seasons with the Italians sharing the same dressing room with Osimhen.
Koulibaly, who has since moved to Saudi Arabian side, Al Hilal, remains close to Nigeria’s superstar striker and per the report, could be key to the 24-year-old choosing the Blues ahead of other suitors.
Napoli hero, Osimhen, has emerged as a key target for the London side as Mauricio Pochettino looks to return the club to its glory days.
Osimhen, who joined the Serie A champions in 2020, is currently in talks with the club for a new contract but at the moment both parties are at variance.
